PARISH COUNCIL SELECTION

The Parish Council helps to facilitate pastoral activities in coordinating and encouraging programs that meet the spiritual and temporal needs of the parish. Nominations for (3 ) new candidates are due no later than Friday May 9, 2008 at the Rectory office. Ballots may be found in the rear
of both sides of the church. Please consider being a vital part in helping St. Denis Parish continue to carry out the mission of the Church.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Registration for this year's Vacation Bible School will begin on Monday, May 12th for St. Denis Parishioners only. Please stop by the Parish Center from 9:30am-11:30am to register. After that, you may register in the rectory.
Registration for non-St. Denis Parishioners will be held on Friday, May 16th from 9:30am - 11:30am in the Parish Center. After that, you may sign up in the rectory, space permitting.

SAVE THE DATE
Sister Helen Prejean will be visiting St. Denis Church on Monday, May 19th at
7:00 PM to share her experiences as a spiritual advisor to death row inmates
and as a counselor for the murder victims families. Sister Helen
vehemently opposes the Death Penalty and works tirelessly for its abolition.
Many Catholics are conflicted by the Death Penalty. Please join us on this
very special night to gain tremendous insight on this controversial subject.
St. Denis Parish is now accepting applications for four $500.00 college scholarships to be awarded to a graduating high school senior. The following criteria will be used in the selection of scholarship recipients:
Student must be a practicing Catholic;
Student must be a parishioner of St. Denis;
Student must show commitment to Church, School and Community;
Student must demonstrate academic achievement and/or financial need; and Student must be
accepted to and enrolled in an accredited post-high school program of study. Applications
must include the following information: Name, address and telephone number; copy of high
school transcript; letters of recommendation; name of post-high school program of study
and school; and an essay explaining why you deserve to be a recipient of the award, using
the above criteria as the basis of your essay. Applications can be obtained from the

TRIP
Members of the St. Denis Silver Lining are going to the Platzl Brauhaus in Pomona, NY on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 and we
would like others in the parish to come along. It is a whole day affair with Coffee and donuts upon arrival, Lunch
at Noon, Music and Dancing with Beer and Soda included, then Dinner at 4PM, all for $37 per person!
